Reading & Rocks

mineral creations reading and rocks

We have always loved reading.  As our adult lives get busier, getting lost in the fantastical worlds of Douglass Adams, David Eddings, and Stephen Donaldson happens much less frequently.  However, the landscapes of our favorite books tell the types of tales that are also written in the bones of the earth.

The vast vistas found in the mountains and canyons of Utah are often mimicked in the books that we love.  I think this is also why when movies are looking for fantastic landscapes for their films, Utah’s striking landscapes are a source of inspiration.

As we tour Utah looking for new additions to our rock collection, we pass landmarks used in film favorites such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Independence Day and National Treasure are some of the places that we may pass on our adventures.

Many of the materials that we use were collected from Utah.  A few of the materials that you may see for sale are dinosaur bone, wonderstone (from Vernon and Salina), and zebra marble.  We love sharing our finds and hope they help you see some fantastic of the fantastic vistas found in real life and fiction.
